Ground Beidou Fiber Synchronization Solution

Compare with traditional PTP synchronization nanosecond-level accuracy, Taifu’s Ground Beidou fiber synchronization archived less than 500 picosecond accuracy, not affected by link congestion or increased hop count. Fiber sync device consist of fiber sync local device, fiber sync trunk device and fiber sync remote device, work with long distance fiber, transmit high accurate time source to remote location.

Fiber sync performance:

  • 1PPS signal time deviation: better than 500ps.
  • 1PPS time synchronization stability: better than 30ps@1s. The time deviation stability between the 1PPS signal output at the remote end and the 1PPS signal input at the local end is represented by TDEV
  • 10MHz frequency signal and UTC(NTSC) master clock frequency deviation: better than 1.2E-15/d
  • 10MHz frequency signal stability: better than 1E-15/d

Fiber sync solutions:

Case1: Independent fiber solution

Operator use independent fiber as timing, OTN will be not affected.

Case2: Fiber sync via Single-fiber bidirectional OTN

Current state: OTN device use single-fiber bidirectional DWDM technology, TX and RX in the same fiber.

Remold plan: In order to use OTN fiber channel to transmit high-precision time, it is necessary to divide two independent optical channels on OTN, so as to establish a single-fiber bidirectional optical timing channel(OTC).

Case3: Fiber sync via Dual-fiber bidirectional OTN

Current Status: The optical data channel(ODC) uses dual-fiber bidirectional DWDM technology, one fiber sends, the other fiber receives; The optical supervision channel(OSC) uses CWDM technology, bypass the amplifier and multiplexed into the main fiber in the corresponding transmission direction.

Remold plan: The OSC channel is transformed into the same optical fiber to achieve single-fiber bidirectional, and the two bands of the other optical fiber are free to do time synchronization; The scheme require two new tasks: OTN board upgrade and fiber sync device distribute.
